Lazy, do-nothing day. So much is closed here that it is difficult to find anywhere to eat, particularly if you want to avoid sitting on the roadside engulfed in the fumes of the buses that hurtle passed only a few feet away. For lunch we head for Cool Spot who kindly open up their first floor balcony restaurant specially for us. Here it is cooler and has the added benefit of allowing us to watch the refurbishment of the 135-room hotel opposite.
In the evening we trawl the road looking for anywhere that might be open on the beach. Everywhere seems to be in semi-darkness which elsewhere would indicate they’re not open, but here not necessarily so. We pick the most likely looking place which although not open are willing to offer us a limited menu and we eat alone on the beach. Time to move on.
