Ambalangoda
We take the bus to Ambalangoda about 14 km north of Hikkaduwa in search of masks. Although rather an unattractive town, Ambalangoda is famous for its ancient devil masks and devil dancers. It is reputedly the best place in Sri Lanka to buy these masks, but disappointingly we fail abysmally to find any masks for sale here and ironically, we end up buying masks in Hikkaduwa on our return.
The weather has changed and is now much cooler, grey, overcast and raining. This is the weather we have long been anticipating, but has felicitously held off until now. We can only hope the sublime sunny days will return before we leave.
